Festive Cheer

Oh, friends, what an extraordinary year it has been. As I sit down to reflect on the past twelve months, the word “unprecedented” feels almost insufficient to capture the depth and breadth of the experiences we’ve collectively navigated. For me, 2021 stands out as the year I felt most profoundly stretched, most burdened by worry, most unbalanced, most acutely heartbroken, most thoroughly challenged, and undeniably, most transformed. Yet, perhaps less surprisingly, it was also the year I felt most incredibly blessed.

As the magical glow of the Christmas season begins to envelop us, truly my most cherished time of the year, I would be deeply remiss – and frankly, quite selfish – if I didn’t take this moment to articulate the boundless gratitude overflowing in my heart for the sheer goodness that permeates my life. This period of reflection, marked by twinkling lights and the spirit of giving, serves as a powerful reminder of the constants that ground me amidst life’s swirling uncertainties.

Above all, my deepest gratitude extends to a loving God in heaven. It is His unwavering presence that consistently, carefully, and caringly nurtures not only my physical being but also my tender spirit, day after day. In moments of doubt, despair, or sheer exhaustion, His guidance has been a steady beacon, illuminating the path forward. I honestly cannot fathom navigating this complex journey of life without the profound comfort and strength that comes from knowing Him. This faith is the bedrock upon which my entire life is built, offering solace and perspective even when the world around me feels chaotic.

I am especially grateful to be immersed in the beauty of this holiday season, where I am reminded again and again, in the most beautiful and poignant ways, that I would truly be nothing without the sweet babe who came to this earth so many centuries ago. The narrative of His birth, life, and teachings echoes through time, offering an eternal message of hope, love, and redemption. My faith and profound hope in Him have never once wavered, even through years like 2021 when so many other aspects of life have felt uncertain, precarious, and utterly unpredictable. The principles He taught – of compassion, forgiveness, and selfless service – continue to inspire and challenge me daily, guiding my decisions and shaping my perspective. When the news cycles are relentless and societal shifts feel overwhelming, the timeless truth of His message provides a sanctuary for my soul.

Indeed, the world often feels incredibly crazy, a whirlwind of anxieties and complexities. But Jesus Christ is not. This simple yet profound truth has become my personal motto for this challenging year, a comforting mantra that brings clarity and peace amidst the confusion. It’s a reminder that there are enduring truths and an unchanging source of peace, no matter how turbulent the external circumstances may become.

Beyond spiritual blessings, I am also super intensely grateful for this incredible family of mine. We are far from perfect, like any family. We certainly have our sharp edges, our messy spots, and our moments of discord, as all human relationships do. Yet, through every challenge and triumph this year, we have learned an immense amount together as a family unit. We’ve honed our ability to communicate, to empathize, and to support one another in ways I never thought possible. I am incredibly proud of each and every one of these amazing humans for the boundless patience, the unconditional love, and the abundant grace they have extended to each other and, crucially, to me. Their resilience, their willingness to grow, and their inherent goodness are a constant source of inspiration and joy in my life. Every shared meal, every late-night conversation, every silly inside joke contributes to the rich tapestry of our family bond.

And speaking of family, a special shout-out to Brian. Hi, my love. I adore you more than words can express. I sincerely apologize that I chose a picture without you in it, but please know you are always at the very heart of our family and my world. Your steadfast support, your quiet strength, and your unwavering belief in me have been pillars through the highs and lows of this year. You are my rock, my partner, and my best friend.

I am also endlessly grateful for each and every one of you who are here, reading these words, being a vital part of this online community. You are the incredible individuals who consistently check in with your thoughtful comments, your heartfelt messages, and your encouraging emails. You are the ones who support me and what I do, not just as a content creator, but as a real human being. You allow me the grace and space to be authentically myself, to share my struggles and my triumphs, and to be “more than just a food blogger.” This connection, though often virtual, is profoundly real and deeply meaningful.

I know it might sound mildly cheesy – but hey, it’s the holidays, so I think I get a cheesy pass! – because I don’t know many of you in real life, beyond the screen. However, the consistent kindness, the genuine friendship, and the invaluable encouragement you continually extend to me virtually have enriched my life in more profound ways than I can adequately detail. Your willingness to engage, to share pieces of your own lives and stories with me, has created a sense of belonging and camaraderie that I truly cherish. This platform, which started as a simple space to share recipes, has blossomed into a vibrant community, sustained by your loyalty and warmth. It’s a privilege to connect with you all.

As we delve deeper into this beautiful holiday season, I sincerely hope it brings you and your loved ones the profound peace that is so deeply desired and so richly deserved. May your days be filled with quiet moments of reflection, joyful celebrations, and the warmth of cherished connections. May you find serenity amidst the bustle, and may your hearts be lightened by hope and love.

Wishing You a Merry, Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year

As a fun little trip down memory lane, I thought it would be delightful to pull up some of the Merry Christmas posts I’ve shared in years past. It’s always fascinating to look back and see how much has changed, and how much has remained wonderfully the same.

Excuse me while I quietly weep for the days gone by, for the rapid passage of time. Just look at all those “wittle babies” in those old photos! That’s what inevitably happens when you embark on a food blogging journey with toddlers underfoot. Twelve years later, and those precious little ones have transformed into gigantic, independent, and amazing young individuals. It’s a powerful testament to the journey we’ve shared, both personally and through this blog.

To each and every one of you, know that I love all of your guts! Thank you so, so much for being here, for your continued support, and for journeying with me year after year after year. Your presence makes this space truly special.
